Last Minute Labor Day Weekend Ideas

School’s back in session and summer’s coming to an end, but there’s one more long weekend before the start of fall! We’ve rounded up some last-minute ideas for Labor Day weekend so you can make the most of your last long weekend of the summer.

1. Street Eats on the Square

Begin your holiday weekend with some treats from Atlanta’s food scene. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on September 1st, Colony Square will be filled with food trucks. Grab a picture with friends, or even just of your food, post it on Instagram with the tag #reimagineCS for a chance to win a special prize.

2. Art in the Park (Marietta)

This free fine arts festival will take you away from the city and into downtown Marietta. Starting September 2nd through the 4th, view works of more than 100 artists ranging from graphic art to pottery. Shop around the artist market and be sure to let the kids wander down the children’s art alley.

3. AJC Decatur Book Festival

Fill your weekend with book signings, author readings, poetry slams and writing workshops at this independent book festival. From September 1st through 3rd, bestselling authors will be among us at Decatur Square for a festival that brings out the inner bookworm in all of us.

4. Chick-fil-A Kickoff Games

No, you’re not reading that wrong. Although the NFL season hasn’t started yet, there will be two college football games held at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Alabama and Florida face off on September 2nd followed by Georgia Tech and Tennessee on September 4th.

5. Big Peach Sizzler 10k

An Atlanta Labor Day tradition, this 10k raises money for cystic fibrosis research and has us feeling fit already. Run 6.2 miles through Chamblee, Brookhaven and end in Buckhead where you can celebrate your big finish with a post-race party.
