Our very own Tatum is an interior goddess. If you're looking for a bit of seasonal decor inspo, she's your girl! Read on to find her 5 tips for refreshing your home this spring.
My favorite season is finally here! The first day of Spring is celebrated like a holiday in my family. It starts out with the windows rolled down, swapping your favorite jeans for new shorts, and spending every second you can outside soaking up some vitamin D. Here are some helpful tips to make your home a little more Spring ready...
1) Add some color!
It’s as easy as it sounds. My favorite way you can bring a pop of color to any room are flowers. Head to any local market to pick up some fresh tulips, daisies, or succulents. Another way is to add an accent wall to a room with a bright color to bring light into your space. Lastly, add a new statement piece! A funky chair from the thrift store or an original framed print can do wonders to any room in the house.
2) Simplify with a spring clean:
Start off with something small, like a closet clear-out. Go through your clothes and decide what you can keep for next season or what you can donate. Next, clean those floors, and don’t get lazy! Make sure you move furniture out of the way to get those hidden dust-bunnies. And finally, dust off your porch or patio so you’re ready to host any gathering in a pinch.
3) Freshen up your living space:
Something quick to do is add some new spring smells to your space with floral or citrus candles! A fresh aroma will surely a smile on anyones face. Another thing is to store away heavy winter bedding and get clean white sheets for the bedroom. This instantly brightens up the area, makes throws + pillows look more colorful, and most importantly, it's super cozy.
4) Stock up your pantry with fresh ingredients!
Limes, strawberries, avocados, carrots, pineapple, mangoes… need I say more? Starting an herb garden is also a helpful (and beautiful!) way to get you to cook with fresh ingredients. Also around this time is when local breweries start displaying their newest seasonal beers! My favorite is Three Taverns’ Rapturous, which is a raspberry sour beer brewed locally in Decatur GA.
5) Update your table tops:
Last but certainly not least, clean up those countertops and side tables to make the room open up and look instantly less cluttered. You can craft easy center pieces for your dining room table, or you can simply assemble a candle + book + cactus for the perfect trio next to your bed.
I hope these help you get inspired to create a special Spring space for you and your loved ones this year.
