Enjoying the city in the summer comes with a price. Rooftop bars and music festivals aren’t free, and it’s easy to feel your wallet get tighter and tighter as the summer months go on, so we rounded up ways to have fun this summer without breaking the bank.
KOP Yoga – Every Tuesday, King of Pops hosts a yoga session in the Old 4th Ward Skate Park. The hour-long class is completely free and for all skill levels. There’s something about doing chair pose with a few hundred of your new best friends that you just can’t get in a studio class.
High Museum – Friday nights at the High are special for two reasons. The first is that the museum stays open until 9PM rather than its regular closing time at 5PM, and the second is that tickets are half priced after 4PM. There’s usually less people during the later hours, so you’ll get to enjoy the museum without the crowds.
Sundown Series – On the last Wednesday of the month, Westside Provisions District hosts the Sundown Series. An evening of food, shopping, live music, and a movie screening. The food and shopping will cost you, but the giant movie screening is completely free and completely fun.
Stone Mountain Hike – See incredible views of the Atlanta skyline and tree canopy from the top of Stone Mountain. Sure you can take the short gondola ride up, but what’s summery about that? Instead, enjoy the warm weather and hike the 2.1 mile trail up the mountain. Bring some water and snacks in your backpack, and all you have to pay for is parking.
